Wellington or Te Whanganui a Tara is the capital of New Zealand, the third largest city by population and the center of the country’s second largest metropolitan area, the largest capital among the Polynesian countries.

Downtown Wellington is very convenient for walking tours. It stretches south from the train station to the Courtenay Place area along the main artery of the central business and shopping district, Lambton Quay.

The climate in the city is moderate maritime, without sharp temperature fluctuations. Since New Zealand is located below the equator, the seasons are reversed here.
